With a lead of 236 runs, Bangladesh began on an aggressive note in their second innings as well against Afghanistan in the lone Test’s second day in Mirpur.

After bundling Afghanistan out for 146 and deciding against enforcing the visitors to follow on, the Tigers are 67 for one after 11 overs and have taken their lead past 300 runs.

Mahmudul Hasan Joy, who scored a patient 76 in the first innings, got out after an uncharacteristic 13-ball 17. The right-hander struck four boundaries inside the first two overs and came close to getting out in the first over following a dropped catch at gully.

Afghanistan also missed a run-out opportunity to remove Zakir Hasan in the second over, who was yet to face a delivery.

Joy was caught at first slip at the bowling of Amir Hamza, who came to bowl the second over’s final delivery following Nijat Masood’s injury.

Following Joy’s dismissal, Zakir and first innings’ centurion Najmul Hossain Shanto have dispatched the poor deliveries with ease, stitching an unbeaten 50-run stand in the process.
