Bangladesh spinners took little time to clean up the tail as Afghanistan were all out for 146 and failed to avoid follow on in their first innings on the second day of the lone Test in Mirpur today.

The Tigers, however, chose not to enforce follow on.

After Tea, Taijul Islam removed the ninth batter, debutant Nijat Masood for naught, with Zakir Hasan taking a sharp catch at silly mid-off, and Mehedi Hasan Miraz removed broke the resilience of Karim Janat (23) to become third Bangladesh bowler to scalp 150 wickets in Tests after Shakib Al Hasan and Taijul.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh lost their remaining five wickets for 20 runs and were all out for 382. In reply, the visitors were in trouble from the onset and were reeling at 51 for four before a 65-run stand for the fifth-wicket stand gave them hope. Afghanistan’s batting depth was seemingly lacking and their tail enders struggled in the middle.
