Najmul Hossain Shanto got dismissed for 124 runs as Bangladesh took their lead past 500 runs in the second innings of the one-off Test against Afghanistan in Mirpur on Friday.
Mushfiqur soon went for eight in the same over, trying to reverse-sweep the bowler after smashing a six.
Shanto reached the three-figure mark off 115 deliveries, following on his 146 in the first innings. At Lunch, Bangladesh were 255 for two in 48 overs, with 121 runs coming off 25 overs in the session. Shanto then offered a simple return catch to Hashmatullah Shahidi off Zahir Khan after reaching 124. Mominul Haque was batting on 43. This was Shanto’s fourth century in Test career along with three half-centuries.
Zakir Hasan, the other overnight batter, however failed to reach a hundred as he got run-out. Zakir scored 71 off 95 balls before perishing while going for a third run after ambling for two.
