Najmul Hossain Shanto became only the second Bangladesh batter to score centuries of both innings of a Test match.
The southpaw batter had scored 146 in the first innings of the one-off Test against Afghanistan in Mirpur and followed it up with another century – his fourth overall in Test career, as Bangladesh continued to pile on the runs in the second innings on Friday.
Shanto reached the three-figure mark off 115 deliveries after losing overnight partner Zakir Hasan through a run-out. Shanto had taken 118 deliveries to reach his century in the first innings.
Mominul Haque, the batter who joined Shanto in the middle after Zakir’s dismissal, had the feat of scoring two centuries in the same Test. Mominul had scored 175 and 106 in the same Test against Sri Lanka in Chattogram back in 2018.
