There was a panic in the visiting Afghan camp after the team’s match and training kits did not arrive as expected. While the Afghans, who landed here on June 10, were expecting to get their jerseys the day after their arrival, only half the team’s jerseys arrived and none of the training kits.

However, the visitors were ultimately relieved when a Bangladeshi manufacturer accepted their order and delivered their jerseys just a day before the start of the one-off Test on Tuesday.

Aswad Sports, a local company owned by former Bangladesh cricketer Fahim Muntasir Sumit, received the order on June 11 and, despite the short turnaround, managed to successfully deliver on time.

“For some reason, only half of the match jerseys of the Afghanistan Test team arrived. That created a bit of concern in the visitors camp. The liaison officer of the Afghanistan team then contacted and asked me to prepare the remaining half of their match jerseys along with the training jerseys before the start of the Test. The challenge was to prepare identical jerseys to the other half, but we were ultimately able to do it successfully,” Fahim told The Daily Star.

According to Fahim, the quality of the jerseys was good and the Afghans were satisfied. “We took it as a challenge and it felt good to see that they were happy with the quality of the fabric,” he said.
