Liton returns from IPL

Bangladesh wicket-keeper batter Liton Das has returned to Bangladesh early from his IPL stint with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) due to a family emergency, the franchise communicated via a media release today.

“Liton Das has had to return to Bangladesh earlier today (Friday 28 April) due to an urgent family medical emergency. Our wishes go out to him and his family to make it through this difficult time,” the media release read.

Liton went for the his first-ever foray into the IPL this season but managed just one game for the Kolkata franchise, having joined the side on April 9.

He managed four runs in his only game playing against Delhi Capitals. He was criticised after two mistakes behind the stumps that game. Jason Roy, who replaced Shakib Al Hasan in the KKR team, showcased rich vein of form which made it difficult for Liton to get games.

Liton was set to join the Bangladesh team in the England for the ODI Super League matches against Ireland but had to return to the country due to the family emergency.
