India beat Bangladesh to win maiden Women’s Emerging Teams Cup

India A clinched the maiden Women’s Emerging Asia Cup after beating their Bangladeshi counterparts by 31 runs in the final at Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok, Hong Kong.

After restricting India to a modest 127 for seven in the 20-over game, Bangladesh suffered a batting collapse as they got bundled out for 96 in 19.2 overs.

Only three Bangladeshi batters got to double-figure marks, with a team-high of unbeaten 22-ball 17-run knock coming from Nahida Akter at the lower-middle order.

Opener Shathi Rani had gotten off to a rapid start, scoring 13 off 11 deliveries but Bangladesh lost momentum as they lost two wickets inside just 3.2 overs. Bangladesh never had a decent partnership from then on, losing wickets at regular intervals.

For India A, Shreyanka Patil starred with the ball in hand, returning figures of four for 13.

Earlier, after being asked to field first, Bangladesh bowlers managed to put on a decent showing. Nahida Akter and Sultana Khatun took two wickets each for the Tigresses.

On Monday, Bangladesh secured a narrow six-run win in a thrilling semifinal against Pakistan.
