Bangladesh batter Towhid Hridoy scored a 22-ball 19 in Jaffna Kings’ loss against B-Love Kandy in the Lanka Premier League at the Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
Hridoy’s 19 runs propelled him to the top of the LPL scoring charts as it took his tally to 141 runs in four matches but on the day it failed to make an impact as Jaffna succumbed to an eight-wicket loss.
The right-handed batter hit three boundaries before he was caught at deep-square leg while trying to sweep leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga.
Jaffna were restricted to 117 for nine after being put into bat first.
Dunith Wellalage top-scored with a 27-ball 38 but Kandy’s Hasaranga and Nuwan Pradeep scalped three wickets each, while Angelo Mathews chipped in with two to make sure Jaffna couldn’t post a significant total.
In reply, Kandy cruised to their target in 13 overs on the back of an unbeaten 22-ball 55 from Hasanranga where he put away five sixes and three fours.
