Bangladesh pacer Ebadot Hossain is of the upcoming ODI World Cup as the pacer goes under the knife in the UK today for an injury that has already seen him out of the Asia Cup, beginning today.

The 29-year-old left for London early in the morning last Monday after suffering from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, sustained during last month’s ODI series against Afghanistan.

Earlier, it was learned that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) would opt between having the player go with conservative treatment or an operation, depending on his initial consultation with doctors in the UK.

“Yes, Ebadot is undergoing an operation. We will work out a rehabilitation plan for him after the operation,” confirmed the BCB chief physician Dr. Debashish Chowdhury to The Daily Star today.

Debashish also added that the player will not be available for the ODI World Cup in October-November in India. It could take him at least six months to recover.

“There is pretty much nothing we can do now that he had to go for an operation. As you know, it takes some time to recover,” Debashish added.

Earlier today, Ebadot informed about the operation through a post on his official Facebook account.
