Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Joty has lauded her team’s dramatic comeback in the third and final ODI against India after the match ended in a tie at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today.

The series-decider went down to the wire after the hosts posted 225 for four, thanks to a historic 107 by opener Fargana Haque Pinky. India, in reply, were bowled out for 225 runs in 49.3 overs. With scheduled time for the match having passed, there was no time left for a Super Over as both teams shared the three-match series.

“It was a great match, a great experience. The way the girls fought; it was unbelievable. After the break, we were talking about the two ways the game would go – either we will go hard on them or they will. Nahida bowled really well. To all the bowlers, it was an excellent performance,” said Joty during post-match presentations.

Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, however, came down heavily on umpiring in the match.

“I think there is a lot of learning for us from the game. Even apart from the cricket, the kind of umpiring that was happening we were very surprised. The next time when we come to Bangladesh, we will make sure we have to deal with this type of umpiring and prepare ourselves accordingly,” said Kaur.

“They (Bangladesh) batted really well, batted according to the situation. They were taking those singles which were very crucial. In between we leaked a few runs but when we were batting, we controlled the game very well but as I mentioned earlier some pathetic umpiring was done and we are really disappointed about some decisions given by the umpires,” she added.

Kaur was also furious on the field after her dismissal as she hit the stumps with her bat and had a few angry words with the umpire before walking off.
