Although there were no official training or media activity of Bangladesh team on Thursday, the team’s ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal called a sudden press conference, raising curiosity in the cricketing fraternity.
Tamim personally sent text messages to the journalists late midnight, asking them to be present at his press conference at 12pm today. However, the press conference was later shifted to 1:30pm and will be held at Tower Inn Hotel in Chattogram.
Tamim has been suffering from back injury in recent times and his statement before the start of the first ODI, where he said that he was not 100 per cent fit and that he would assess his condition after playing the first game, did not go down well with the board.
Although Tamim was reluctant to comment over the reason of his sudden press conference, sources close to the cricketer informed that Tamim has been thinking of taking a decision regarding his captaincy in the ODI format.
The left-handed batter was unable to make an impact with the bat in the first ODI, getting dismissed for the fourth consecutive time against Fazalhaq Farooqi.
There were also talks that the left-handed opener has been going through mental stress over his fitness issues, which may force Tamim to take a big decision.
