Shahzad returns as Afghanistan announce T20I squad for Bangladesh series

Mohammad Shahzad returned to the side after almost two years as Afghanistan named a 16-member squad for the two-match T20I series against Bangladesh on Sunday.

The wicket-keeper batter, who played his last T20I back in 2021 against New Zealand, makes a comeback to the Afghan side led by star cricketer Rashid Khan.

Apart from Rashid, the likes of Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Naveen Ul Haq will bolster the strength of the visitors. 

Followed by the 546-run defeat in the lone Test against Bangladesh, the visitors have already arrived after the Eid break and are gearing up for the three-match ODI series scheduled to begin on July 5 in Chattogram. The remaining two matches will take place on July 8 and 11 at the same venue.

The action will then move to Sylhet where the first of the two-match T20I series will be on July 14, while the second game will be played on July 16 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
