Maradona suffered a record 53 fouls at Mexico 1986. Overall, he won a 152 free-kicks at the World Cup, which was easily more than his nearest rival, Brazilian Jairzinho, who earned 64 freekicks and was the most fouled player at Mexico 1970.

Maradona, 25, led his side and played every minute of their World Cup journey, scoring five goals, includingt the most famous “hand of god” against England in the quarter-finals and providing five assists.
