Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan agrees Barcelona move: Reports

The 32-year-old has made more than 300 appearances for Man City and went on to win 14 trophies at the Etihad, including five Premier League titles. He also lead City’s successful treble-winning season where they won the FA Cup, the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

Gundogan scored a brace against arch-rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final earlier this month. The first goal he scored in that match was the fastest goal ever scored in FA Cup final history with just over 12 seconds on the clock.

Meanwhile, City will begin its latest English Premier League title defense against Burnley, a promoted team managed by City great Vincent Kompany.

City’s trip to Turf Moor will start the season on Aug. 11 — and on a Friday night — and it’s laden with narrative because of the presence of Kompany, who spent 11 years (2008-19) at the club and has a statue outside the team’s Etihad Stadium.

City’s early season schedule looks relatively benign — the champion also plays promoted Sheffield United and host Fulham and Nottingham Forest in its first six games — before a tough-looking October when City plays Arsenal (October 7) and Manchester United (Oct. 28) away either side of hosting Brighton.
