Afghanistan will be eager to bounce back in the white-ball formats following a 546-run defeat against hosts Bangladesh in the one-off Test in Mirpur.

The visitors will welcome the services of their star cricketers–Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Mohammad Nabi—significantly strengthening their side for the upcoming three-match ODI followed by the two-match T20I series.

However, all-rounder Mehedi Hasan Miraz said that the Tigers have beaten a full-strength Afghanistan side in the past and banked on his team’s current form to overcome the Afghan challenge.

“They (Rashid and Mujeeb) made a comeback but they were in the side in the last home series which we won. Obviously, they came with a very strong side but we won the series by playing some good cricket. The tough situations will come again and it is a part of cricket. There will be different situations in a 50-over game. We are mentally prepared for that and everyone is in good form,” Miraz told the media after the Tigers’ training session in Mirpur on Wednesday.

According to Miraz, the Tigers are willing to take the momentum from the Afghanistan series to the Asia Cup.

“We are focusing on ways to play good cricket. The Afghanistan series is expected to be the last series before the Asia Cup and then we have a series against New Zealand before the World Cup. So, we want to finish it on a high and gain the confidence,” he added.
