Masood takes five as Tigers get bundled out for 382

Afghanistan pacer Nijat Masood took a fifer to put on a leash on Bangladesh’s batting effort in the first session of the second day of the only Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Thursday.

The hosts managed to add just 20 runs to their overnight total meaning they got bundled out for 382 as the Afghan pacers turned on the heat, especially after taking the new ball just an over into the start of play.

Masood became the destroyer in chief as he removed Mushfiqur Rahim, and the rest of the tail, while Yamin Ahmadzai dismissed Mehedi Hasan Miraz. The pacer finished with figures of five wickets for 79 runs to help his side clean up the hosts in seven overs.

Miraz was the first one to go. The right-handed batter spooned a full-length delivery outside off-stump to backward-point off the bowling off pacer Ahmadzai.

Masood managed to get the better of Mushfiqur by getting a back-of-a-length delivery to rise sharply off the wicket. This took Mushfiqur by surprise and the batter failed to adjust and could only fend at it as it took the edge off the shoulder of the bat to second slip.

Taijul popped a short one straight to short-leg in the same over.
