Bangladesh bowlers managed to take three Afghanistan before lunch to reduce the hosts to three down for 35 at lunch on the second day of the only Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Thursday.

Left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam gave the Tigers their first breakthrough when he nicked off Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran for six in the sixth over of the innings. He angled a full-length delivery away from the batter, whose feet went nowhere as he poked at it and conceded an edge to the wicketkeeper.

Ebadot Hossain delivered the goods in his very first over when he sent back Afghanistan opener Abdul Malik for 17 to leave the visitors two down for 24 after the completion of the seventh over.

Extra bounce was at play again as Ebadot bowled a short one outside off-stump and Malik responded by going onto the backfoot to punch it but the right-handed batter could only manage an edge that just carried to Zakir Hasan at third slip.

Ebadot struck again before lunch to dismiss Rahmat Shah, who mistime a short one to midwicket. He scored an 18-ball nine before his dismissal.
