Bangladesh batter Najmul Hossain Shanto missed out on his 150 as he departed for 146, while Mominul Haque’s lean patch continued as he was nicked off down the leg side for 15 runs on the first day of the only Test against Afghanistan at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Bangladesh were reduced to 271 for four after the completion of the 58th over.

Mominul went back to the hut in the 53rd over, courtesy of pacer Nijat Masood, and Shanto perished while trying to take on left-arm spinner Amir Hamza. Shanto danced down the wicket and tried to go over the leg-side but the miscue only managed to find the hands of Nasir Jamal at deep mid-wicket.
