ECB keen to host Bangladesh for a Test at Lord’s

Bangladesh might play a Test match at Lord’s in the 2024-2025 season as the England & Wales Cricket Board is planning to host the Tigers along with Zimbabwe in order to galvanise Test cricket around the world, reported The Telegraph.

According to the ICC’s Future Tour Programme (FTP), Bangladesh do not have any matches in England until March 2027. The last time England hosted Bangladesh for a series apart from the ICC events was back in 2010 when the Tigers played two Test matches in the country, including one at Lord’s.

However, the overwhelming ticket sales for Bangladesh matches during the 2017 Champions Trophy and the 2019 World Cup, along with the recent ODI series against Ireland at Chelmsford, have seen interest grow in hosting Bangladesh in England.

In both 2024 and 2025, England are only scheduled to play five Test matches in the home summer and the ECB is considering accommodating one more Test that creates an opportunity to host teams like Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.
