Bangladesh were bundled out for 274 in the third and final ODI of the three-match series against Ireland in Chelmsford on Sunday.
The visitors were headed for a score beyond 300 when Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehedi Hasan Miraz were batting but following the dismissal of the former in the 46th over after a 75-run stand with the latter, the Tigers were able to add just 12 runs for the loss of four wickets and had seven balls in hand.
Skipper Tamim Iqbal top-scored with an 82-ball 69, and Mushfiqur added a 54-ball 45.
Ireland’s Mark Adair starred with four wickets, while Andy McBrine and George Dockrell scalped two wickets each.
Earlier in the day, Mark Adair removed Bangladesh debutant, opener Rony Talukdar for four in the fourth over but the visitors managed 62 runs for the loss of one in the first 10 overs.
Coming in at three, Najmul Hossain Shanto was nicked off at slip by Ireland seamer Craig Young for a 32-ball 35 in the 11th over as the Tigers lost two wickets for 67.
Liton Das couldn’t capitalsie on his start either as he miscued one off the bowling of off-spinner Andy McBrine as the right-handed batter was caught by Mark Adair at mid-off leaving Bangladesh three down for 139 runs at the end of the 24th over.
Liton, who hit a solitary six and three fours for his 39-ball 35, shuffled away from the line of the ball and then tried to lift a short one over mid-off but could only mistime it to the fielder.
Tamim Iqbal threw his wicket away while trying to up the ante after he made a sluggish fifty leaving Tigers five down for 186 after 34 overs.
Tamim, who reached his fifty in 61 balls, perished for an 82-ball 69 that featured six fours. He tried to take on George Dockrell by going down the wicket eyeing the leg-side boundaries but could only manage to sky it as to third man.
Mushfiqur Rahim was trapped lbw by Ireland off-spinner Andy McBrine after the right-handed batter scored a 54-ball 45 to steer the Tigers away from a tricky position. Mushfiqur, who put away three fours and one six, put together a 75-run stand with Mehedi Hasan Miraz taking the visitors’ total to 263 for six after the end of the 46th over.
