Tigers look to up the ante following Tamim’s dismissal

Despite the loss of skipper Tamim Iqbal early, Bangladesh remained unfazed in their chase of a daunting target in the rain-curtailed second and penultimate ODI against hosts Ireland in Chelmsford on Friday.

The Tigers are 37 for one after eight overs, with Liton Das (19*) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (9*) at the crease.

Earlier, in chase of 321 in 45 overs, Tamim and Liton began proceedings cautiously as the likes of Josh Little and Mark Adair made the most of the new ball and conditions.

However, Tamim, who tackled the majority of deliveries and survived a close leg-before decision, flicked an Adair delivery straight to the fielder at forward square leg where George Dockrell made no mistake. Tamim departed for a 13-ball seven.

Following Tamim’s departure, Liton and Shanto have combined to hit five fours and a six, with Liton hitting the maximum with a well-timed pull shot off Little in the innings’ seventh over.
