As the City players were celebrating, there was a commotion on the touchline as Ancelotti and the Madrid staff remonstrated with the officials.
The Madrid boss received a yellow card and at the time it was not clear why he was so animated.

Speaking after the game, he revealed: “The ball was off the pitch. Technology said it and I don’t understand why VAR didn’t check it.
“The referee didn’t pay attention to many things tonight.”
