The 51-year-old Argentine who will take charge from the start of next season, will be joined by his dependable assistant Jesus Perez, his son Sebastian, who serves as the team’s fitness coach, as well as Toni Jimenez, who coaches goalies, and Miguel D’Agostino, another assistant coach.

The Blues great Lampard has struggled since coming back and has only managed one victory in seven games while serving as temporary coach, thus he will leave Stamford Bridge at the end of this season.

Lampard had lost all of his previous six leading to fears his legacy at the club would be tarnished. But now the players that underperformed so spectacularly under the former Everton and Derby boss are playing for their futures under Pochettino. It is understood the Argentine wants to keep midfielder N’Golo Kante, whose contract is expiring.

Pochettino plans on restructuring Chelsea’s defence, and he sees the Frenchman as vital for supplying the defence he requires in front of the back four. Along with the fullbacks Reece James and Ben Chilwell, young defenders Benoit Badiashile and Levi Colwill are also safe.

During his early tenures at both clubs, Pochettino built from the ground up to create Spurs and Southampton two of the hardest teams to beat in the Premier League. However, he is rumoured to be looking for a new custodian at Chelsea due to doubts surrounding both Kepa and Edouard Mendy.

Boehly opened up about Chelsea’s issues last week before their win at Bournemouth and admitted they are confident they can turn the Blues’ fortunes around. Lampard’s side currently sit 11th, six points behind 10th-place Fulham.
