Bangladesh women’s national team were unable to get back into the series following their 58-run loss against Sri Lanka yesterday in the second ODI as the third ODI on May 7 has been scrapped. The Tigresses, courtesy of the cancellation, lose the series 1-0.

Following both the first two ODIs being washed out by rain, the two boards had wanted to play an extra match and rescheduled the game. However, the ICC has not approved the rescheduling as the ODI series is part of ICC’s women’s championship.

“The game has been cancelled. ICC does not approve the rescheduling and the game won’t take place. It also means the series has ended,” team manager Golam Faiz told The Daily Star today.

There has been incessant rain during Bangladesh’s tour of Sri Lanka but no communication had come in on whether the T20I series — set to begin on May 9 and currently threatened by rain — faces possibility of being rescheduled.

Meanwhile batter Shorna Akter has returned to the country following injury and her replacement Rubya Haider has joined the side in Sri Lanka prior to the T20I series.
